At En Route, we take pride in the expertise and dedication of our staff and our passenger solutions, both of which were was recently showcased at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards in Staffordshire.Â
Recently, two of our experienced NPD team were invited to the awards which took place in Staffordshire, to judge a variety of cheese and dairy categories, highlighting their depth and breadth of knowledge in this sector.
Georgina Mogridge, Head of Dairy at En Route, judged alongside dairy experts from across the country: H M P Ranjith, a retired butter expert; Adrian Roche, Technical Development Manager at Tesco; and Ellie Wilson, Buying Assistant at Booths.
Among the categories they judged were unsalted butters, organic butters, dairy butters, flavoured butters, clotted cream, soured cream and flavoured creams.
Said Georgina, “Judging at the International Cheese & Dairy Awards was an enriching experience that deepened my understanding of butters, milks, and creams. It was fantastic to be surrounded by so many industry experts, whose insights and passion for dairy were truly inspiring.”
Sharron Allen, NPD Manager at En Route, judged alongside Rob Brewster, Senior Buying Manager at Morrisons; Tom Rhodes, Director of Carron Lodge; and Susan Bradshaw, proprietor of an independent cheese shop.
They judged a number of different categories including medium cheddar cheese (coloured), cheddar with savoury additives, vegetarian cheese (territorial), natural yoghurt, and Australian cheese.
Said Sharron, “I was amazed by the diversity and quality of the products I judged. The unique combinations in the cheddar with savoury additives category provided a lot of food for thought for our own cheese pairings, and it’s exciting to see such innovation coming from the Australian market too.”
En Route’s involvement in events like the International Cheese & Dairy Awards underscores the importance of passion, innovation, and craftsmanship in the cheese world. It’s these qualities that drive us to continually elevate our offerings and support our partners in delivering exceptional culinary experiences.
Gwendal Hamon, Director of Food at En Route, commented on the significance of this recognition: “Having our colleagues called upon for their expertise at such an event is a testament to the calibre of our team. We are committed to excellence in every aspect of our work, from sourcing to service, and it’s gratifying to see our dedication recognised by our peers in the industry.”
This commitment to quality is exemplified in our highly regarded cheese programme for Emirates, for whom we supply first and business class cheeses, and also in how we support Emirates at their summer sporting hospitality events, such as the upcoming T20 between Lancashire and Yorkshire at Emirates Old Trafford Cricket Ground on July 12th.
There was even more cause for celebration at the Awards, as En Route’s first class airline packs received Gold, with our business class packs winning Silver.
It was also great to see some of the cheeses we have on current and future rotations taking home some prizes, with the Sartori Espresso winning The Sainsburys Trophy and one Gold, whilst the Blue D’Affinois collected two Gold and one Bronze.
