Job Purpose
The Head of Food is responsible for the development and management of the En Route product portfolio across the region. This includes developing and managing the relationships with our manufacturer/supplier base. To date, this role been Australian focussed however with further sales growth opportunities across the business the remit of the role is likely to expand to incorporate some product (food) management and development in Asia.
The Head of Food will work closely with the commercial team to drive new product innovation and support sales growth opportunities.
The Head of Food will also work closely with the Technical and Operation teams to support the quality management of all existing product.
Key Objectives
- Drive the strategic development plans of the various food categories (in close collaboration with the Sales, Procurement, Technical Team) ensuring that product is developed & refreshed to support the business growth and planned airline menu changes.
- Lead the formulation of the food development innovation pipeline
- Work in partnership with colleagues across the business and supplier base to deliver ‘best in class’ innovative products.
- Managing projects ensuring critical path targets and timelines are met.
- Lead the successful launch of new products,
- Work closely with the Technical team to ensure an efficient QA & product surveillance program is consistently delivered.
- Support the Technical team by providing SME (subject matter expert) knowledge supporting nonconformance investigations as required.

- International and domestic business travel is expected to be undertaken as part of the role with frequency varying throughout the year.

Person Specification
- Extensive Chef (preferred) or food manufacturing background essential.
- Experience in the airline industry a bonus.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of product and the practicalities of creating food products for mass production.
- Strong experience leading and developing food innovation.
- Demonstrated excellent project management skills.
- A problem-solving mindset.
- Proven track record of analysing and interpreting data to drive business performance.
- Strong background in customer facing/ supplier facing capacity.
- Creative and self-motivated with a passion for food.
- Ability to work in a nimble fast paced environment.
- The ability to manage your own time effectively.
- Strong understanding of market trends
