En Route’s Sponsorship and Fundraising: Supporting Causes that Matter

Bracknell U18 rugby club
Here at En Route, we are passionate about supporting our team and our local community. Whether it’s raising money for local charities and good causes, or donating resource to local sports clubs and groups, we like to give back where we can.

Here’s just a few of the ways in which we do that:

Grassroots Sponsorship

Each year, En Route offers four donations of £500 each, to causes that are close to our team’s hearts. Previously, this has been awarded to a preschool to help them update their website, and to different sports clubs to help them purchase kit or equipment.

Most recently, we had the privilege of sponsoring Bracknell U18’s Rugby Club, which, last season saw two of their teams competing – one in Division 1 and the second in Division 3. Both teams secured a mid-table finish, and to round off their strong season, the team were also invited to compete in the Malta Youth Rugby Festival.

HR Director, Hannah Knight – whose son plays on the Bracknell Rugby Club U18s Colts team – nominated BRFC to sponsor their travel kit for their recent tour to Malta where they came second in the 7s festival and third in the 15s. While they were there, they also were able to pick up an award for the most social team. Congratulations to all at BRFC and good luck in the next season.

We spoke to Hannah about how our sponsorship helped BRFC and she said: “With our logo and a number of other sponsors’ help, it ensured the team had the right kit for their tour to enable them to play their best rugby.”

As part of our grassroots sponsorship, we also recently sponsored the training kits for the Bracknell Town Under 15s Robins. Put forward for sponsorship by Food Development Manager, Sarah Dale, whose son plays on the team

Throughout the last season they faced a number of challenges, with two players having to sit the season out due to injuries. However, despite the setbacks their spirits stayed high, and they are now preparing for this year’s season, under new management.

When asked about how our sponsorship helped the team Sarah said, “It allowed the team to have a separate kit that wasn’t their match kit, but meant that when they turned up to the pitch for training they still looked like a team with their training kits on.”

Tough Mudder

This year, a team of over 30 En Route team members took on Tough Mudder to help raise money for Thames Hospice. From scaling walls to monkey bars, and through mud, sweat and gritted teeth, this amazing group of people worked together to cross the finish line. Through doing this they helped us raise an incredible £3,179 for Thames Hospice, a charity close to our hearts, and on our doorstep.

Michaela Gatt Floridia, our Research and Insights Manager played a crucial role in organising the team and motivating them to get through the challenge together. She says: “Taking on Tough Mudder as a team was a great experience. Not just for the mud and laughter, but for the collaboration, camaraderie, and support we showed each other around the course. We’re especially proud to have turned that teamwork into impact by raising over £3,000 for Thames Hospice!”

Charity Donations

In our UK office we have a fantastic group of people known as ‘The Culture Champs’ who help arrange and organise all work social events. One event they organise quarterly is a coffee morning to help raise money for different charities. By doing this we have raised money for both Thames Hospice and MacMillan Cancer Support and are looking to expand the selection by taking suggestions from staff.

As we regularly support Thames Hospice with our other fundraising events, at the Windsor office we thought it would be a great idea to set up the ‘Donation Station’. This is a place where employees can donate their unwanted clothing or household items all for a great cause. The ‘Donation Station’ was set up in March this year and we have already had three collections!

Finally, we have also partnered with Windsor Foodshare in the past to donate non-perishable food items, toiletries and cleaning products to the local community. Windsor Foodshare take these items and issue vouchers to referrers (housing services, social services, GP’s, schools etc.) who provide them to individuals or families in need.

At En Route, we are incredibly proud of all the fundraising work we do, and even more proud of the people who have contributed. From all of us here, we want to say a big thank you to all of you, and let’s keep up the excellent work.
